Monster Book Reviews this week

Hi friends!

How do you like my new blog design? I love the clean, fresh look, and I hope you do, too!

Are you ready for the last week in October?

Here’s what we’ll be up to in our library this week.

Monster Book Reviews

I created a freebie to share with you–monster book reviews. Your students will write about their favorite book, color their monster, and voila! You’ve got peer book recommendations for your students AND decorations for your Scholastic book fair!

All you need to do is print and copy the book review pages. Print the “I Can” sign, and either laminate it or frame it. (I use acrylic sign holders for my “I Can” signs.) Add pencils, crayons, and/or markers. There you go!

Great Pumpkin Puzzle Center

I found a 100-piece jigsaw puzzle of Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin, and I’ve got that ready to assemble at another library center. I typically have a puzzle center once a month, and it’s always a big hit.

Judging by how hard it is to find good puzzles, I guess that fewer people are buying and working puzzles at home. But my students really enjoy the puzzle center!

Leftover Centers

If I have materials left from a previous week’s centers, I’ll leave them out until they get used up. Right now I’ve got leftover papers from our Autumn Symmetry center, so that center stays out for a few more days. Students who didn’t get to participate in this activity and students who want to create another autumn symmetry picture can have a turn this week.

This is the last week of our Storybook Pumpkin Patch, and our Scholastic book fair starts next week. What’s going on in YOUR school library?

    1. Thank you so much for all the center ideas you post! I love using centers in the library. I know the kids love them too! There are some of your centers that you have had previously and I couldn’t find. How can you access them?

      1. You should be able to use the “search” box on the right side of the blog to find any content from the past. I haven’t deleted any posts!
Let me know if there’s something specific you’re looking for.
        Thanks for your question!
