Question of the Week Library Center

Hi friends!

Have you tried the Question of the Week Library Center? I bought it on TPT from Mrs. Lodge’s Library, and we love it!

Question of the Week Library CenterThis center includes 44 questions (as quarter page slips and as full page signs), answer forms to copy, and instructions.

Jessica Lodge is one of my library center collaborators, and I’ve been wanting to try this center ever since I met her answer alien at AASL in Hartford.

Library Centers table at AASLSee him? Students do research to find the answer to the trivia question, and put their answer slip inside the answer alien (aka foil-covered tissue box). The answer slip includes a space for the student to list the source of the answer.

You may be thinking, okay, a library center for students to practice research skills? Oh, yeah, they’re gonna LOVE that. Guess what? Mine did! I never stated or implied in any way that there would be a prize, and my students loved this “scavenger hunt” type activity, searching madly for the answer in the books I had stacked on the table.

Question of the Week Library CenterI’ll try using electronic resources next time. I think my students would love that, too! This product comes with enough questions to have a question of the week all year long.

If you want to encourage the inquiry process, I encourage you to try this excellent library center!

And, if you want to hear Jessica Lodge (Mrs. Lodge’s Library), Carolyn Vibbert (Risking Failure) and I talk about library centers, you should check out this podcast we recorded together.

Happy library learning!

    1. I purchased it at the beginning of the school year and my students love it! The first thing they ask when they come to library is “can we answer the question of the week?” I purchased a small blue and red trash can from Dollar Tree that was transformed into Super Q (I’m a Superman fan). He wears a cape and has a Q on his “chest” and protects their answers until it is time to draw a winner!
