Reading Emoji Bulletin Board

Hi friends?

Are you back at school? I’m back and I’ve built my emoji bulletin board for reading!

Emoji Bulletin Board

I started by creating big letters that say “Reading is.” I drew mine freehand, but later I found this blog post about how to make giant bulletin board letters. I’ll use that PowerPoint trick next time!

I use black fabric as my bulletin board background, and a sturdy double Bordette border.

Next I drew our emojis on yellow butcher paper. At first I tried coloring the eyes and mouths with crayons, but it didn’t show up very well. So I painted them with acrylic paint, and now the colors really pop! I went back over my letters with black paint too.

Look at the difference that black paint makes!

I added my emoji pillows from Walmart to the chairs we already had.

Emoji Library

I’m loving our bright colors and friendly environment in the library. We’ll refer to this bulletin board in our book conversations all year. Next, I’ll set up a center for students to write their own emoji book recommendations.  I’ll keep you posted!

    1. I will try to send a picture – not sure how to attach here, but I love it!! so bright and I printed the colored faces.

    2. Love all that you do! I’m a middle school librarian and I’m always looking for ways to continue to motivate my students to continue to visit the library . You have so many ideas I will borrow one at a time. I love the QR code idea with book trailers. I have a youtube channel: One Book or Novel at a Time and I create book trailers and read synopsis of books. This last year, I’ve been behind on posting ;-). I will link some of those with QR codes. Thank you for sharing so many wonderful ideas. I am also a self-published author of the book “The Tears Behind the Smile: Poems and Reflections from the Heart” and I’m working on my children’s book. The story is finished and I’m workin gon my free-hand illustrations.
