Summer Bucket List with GoNoodle and Marla Frazee
Hi friends!
Are you starting to talk about summer with your students? Here’s a fun, simple lesson I just shared in my elementary school library.
First, I read aloud a fun summer book, A Couple of Boys Have The Best Week Ever, by Marla Frazee.
This picture book, a Caldecott Honor book , is full of fun things two boys do during a week of summer vacation on a California beach. You’ll need to talk about the illustrations and the speech bubbles, rather than reading straight through the book.
After we shared the story, we talked about making a bucket list of things we want to do this summer. I used the printable bucket list from GoNoodle.
Of course, since I’m a librarian, I wrote “Read _____ books” on line 1 before I copied it, so that students could set a reading goal for the summer!
We brainstormed as a group about different things we could do during the summer months. Then each student completed a bucket list, and either colored the GoNoodle champs, or turned the paper over to create their own illustration of an item from the list.
We had a great time thinking about all the things we can do this summer! Are we there yet?
This is a great idea. I will have to keep this in mind for next year! Would have loved it for this week…. Thanks for sharing!
