Webcam Library Center

Hi friends!

Last Saturday I went to a Google for Educators conference in San Antonio. At the end of the day, I felt like my brain was ready to EXPLODE with ideas to share with you and with my students! Here is the first new tool I learned about…Blendspace!

(By the way, I don’t believe this product is related to Google in any way. It was mentioned in a session, and it intrigued me.)

This video will give you a one-minute introduction to Blendspace.

Can you see students using this tool to curate content about a topic? To evaluate several sources of information? To compare different types of media? Then they could use their Blendspace to teach a lesson to the class.

I like the graphics–lots of visual appeal. I also like the instant gratification of finding things (links, images, videos, Educreations) and dragging them over, instead of copying, pasting, saving, embedding.

Here’s what I created on Blendspace.

I created a page with links to the webcams at several zoos and an aquarium. My students love to observe live animals, and this is a great way to bring huge, dangerous creatures to the library!

Here’s the link to my Blendspace: http://blnds.co/1gjQkKD  You’re welcome to add it to your library web page. My students like to watch the webcams after they check out library books.

And here’s what our Elf on the Shelf is up to today. He found a wild animal of his own!

Merry Monday! And let me know what you think about Blendspace!

      1. They are coming soon, Kim. Thanks for the words of encouragement! I try to play with the resources a little bit first so I can describe them accurately to you and save you some trial and error.

    1. I’ve been surfing online more than 2 hours today, yet I never found any
interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me.
In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made good
content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.
