Storybook Pumpkin Patch Time!
Hi friends!
Is it October already? That means it’s time to send home our story book pumpkin patch flier! You can get your free printable here, at my Teachers Pay Teachers store.
I’ll send these home, and students will work with their families to decorate pumpkins like storybook characters. (Sometimes they are movie characters, but I’m not really strict about this.)
The key rules you DO need to be strict about are:
- no poking or cutting the pumpkin (because cut pumpkins rot quickly and ooze–ick!)
- you don’t get your prize (a spirit stick from Spirit Monkey) until you pick up your pumpkin (that helps motivate them to get those pumpkins picked up and taken home!)
I’ve shared this pumpkin patch idea here before. I’ll remind you now that it is super easy, it makes your library look festive, and it makes everyone on campus smile. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
Here are some of our past story book pumpkins.
You will love seeing your students express their creativity with this project! Go ahead–give it a try!
I am trying this for the first time and students are excited! I’m looking forward to seeing the pumpkins. Thanks for the flyer, it was a great starting point. Love your blog…so many great ideas.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Leslie!
Do you have an activity page like the pumpkin one that is for Christmas? I am going to have the students decorate an ornament or snow globe that is available at the Dollar Tree.
