How do you promote reading in your school library?

You can read the blog posts below to see MANY ways to promote reading in your school library. One of my favorite (and most successful) ways to promote reading is through fiction genres. I teach about fiction genres, I shelve the fiction section by genres, and we even have library centers about genres.

Once students find a genre that they love, they often take off as readers. You can grab many of my favorite genre instructional tools in this bundle.

I believe that one of our most important goals as school librarians should be to share the joy of reading. Classroom teachers are often so busy teaching the mechanics of reading that it’s up to us to show students how reading can be fun!
