Are you back at school? I’m back and I’ve built my emoji bulletin board for reading!
I started by creating big letters that say “Reading is.” I drew mine freehand, but later I found this blog post about how to make giant bulletin board letters. I’ll use that PowerPoint trick next time!
I use black fabric as my bulletin board background, and a sturdy double Bordette border.
Next I drew our emojis on yellow butcher paper. At first I tried coloring the eyes and mouths with crayons, but it didn’t show up very well. So I painted them with acrylic paint, and now the colors really pop! I went back over my letters with black paint too.
Look at the difference that black paint makes!
I added my emoji pillows from Walmart to the chairs we already had.
I’m loving our bright colors and friendly environment in the library. We’ll refer to this bulletin board in our book conversations all year. Next, I’ll set up a center for students to write their own emoji book recommendations. I’ll keep you posted!
