Build Leprechaun Traps

Hi friends!

Have you ever built leprechaun traps with your students? I haven’t (yet), but I wanted to share with you what another librarian in my district is doing.

Leprechaun TrapsOur spring break is right before Saint Patrick’s Day. My colleague is sending this flier home so that students can work with their families to build a leprechaun trap together during the break. When they bring their traps in after spring break, she’ll display them on top of the library shelves.

You can download the flier here from my Google drive.  You won’t be able to edit my document. You’ll have to save a copy, and then you can edit your copy.

I like the requirements she included: at least 1 moving part, a way to attract the leprechaun, strength to hold a leprechaun, the right size for a leprechaun, and the leprechaun affinity for shiny things.

This could also be a library center, in the maker space style. Provide lots of raw materials and let the students create their trap in your school library.

Happy spring break, y’all!
